چکیده

With rapid economic and social development, the problem of traffic congestion is getting more and more serious. Accordingly, network traffic models have attracted extensive attention. In this paper, we introduce a shortest-remaining-path-first queuing strategy into a network traffic model on Barabási–Albert scale-free networks under efficient routing protocol, where one packet’s delivery priority is related to its current distance to the destination. Comparedwith the traditional first-in-first-out queuing strategy, although the network capacity has no evident changes, some other indexes reflecting transportation efficiency are significantly improved in the congestion state. Extensive simulation results and discussions are carried out to explain the phenomena. Our workmay be helpful for the designing of optimal networked-traffic systems. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. SOLVING BEST PATH PROBLEM ON MULTIMODAL TRANSPORTATION NETWORKS WITH FUZZY COSTS

Numerous algorithms have been proposed to solve the shortest-pathproblem; many of them consider a single-mode network and crispcosts. Other attempts have addressed the problem of fuzzy costs ina single-mode network, the so-called fuzzy shortest-path problem(FSPP). The main contribution of the present work is to solve theoptimum path problem in a multimodal transportation network, inwhich the co...

Time-dependent Stochastic Shortest Path(s) Algorithms for a Scheduled Transportation Network

Following on from our work concerning travellers’ preferences in public transportation networks (Wu and Hartley, 2004), we introduce the concept of stochasticity to our algorithms. Stochasticity greatly increases the complexity of the route finding problem, so greater algorithmic efficiency becomes imperative. Public transportation networks (buses, trains) have two important features: edges can...

Partial order approach to compute shortest paths in multimodal networks

Many networked systems involve multiple modes of transport. Such systems are called multimodal, and examples include logistic networks, biomedical phenomena, manufacturing process and telecommunication networks. Existing techniques for determining optimal paths in multimodal networks have either required heuristics or else application-specific constraints to obtain tractable problems, removing ...

Complexity in human transportation networks: a comparative analysis of worldwide air transportation and global cargo-ship movements

We present a comparative network-theoretic analysis of the two largest global transportation networks: the worldwide air-transportation network (WAN) and the global cargo-ship network (GCSN). We show that both networks exhibit surprising statistical similarities despite significant differences in topology and connectivity. Both networks exhibit a discontinuity in node and link betweenness distr...
